Raid Your Kitchen for These Easy 4 Ingredient Dog Treats Your Pup Will Love

February 16, 2022 Abigail Curran
Carrot and Red Apple Cookies

Four-ingredient Carrot and Red Apple Cookies. Yes, these are for the doggos. We thought we could show you how to make a tasty treat for your pup. Made from wheat flour (or brown rice flour if gluten free), carrots, red apple & chicken or vegetable broth. All the ingredients are things you probably already have in your pantry or fridge. Simply delicious.

Carrots and red apples in cookies? Yes! These cookies are jam-packed with fiber and vitamins. Your dog won't even realize they're eating healthy! Source: The Daily Wag

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups of wheat flour (or brown rice flour if gluten free)
  • 1/2 cup carrots, shredded (about 1 large carrot)
  • 1/2 cup red apple, shredded (about half a large apple)
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth

Instructions

  1. Set your oven to 400° F.
  2. While your oven is heating, mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl. (This is a very wet dough. I had to fold in some extra flour before putting it on my floured surface.)
  3. Flour your surface and rolling pin and roll out your dough to a half-inch in thickness.
  4. Cut the cookies into your desired shape either with a floured cookie cutter or a knife.
  5. Place your cookies on a parchment-lined (or non-stick) baking sheet and cook for 9 minutes or until very crispy. Can take up to 20 minutes depending on thickness.
  6. Share with your pup!

Remember: The best food for your pet is a daily balanced diet that you and your veterinarian agree is best for your pet’s individual needs. But for most, the occasional treat is okay … in moderation!
