DIY Holiday Dog Treats

December 04, 2020 Lili Kendall
Dog with Christmas cookies

It's the most wonderful time of the year, and we can't think of a better way to celebrate than baking treats for our four-legged friends! This recipe is pet-tested and pet parent-approved:

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup + 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 3/4 cup molasses

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 325°
  • In a small bowl, combine all spices and mix. In a large bowl, combine flours and then combine all dry ingredients.
  • In a separate large bowl, combine all wet ingredients.
  • Combine wet and dry ingredients together. Note: dough will be stiff! Add more water if needed.
  • Sprinkle flour on a flat surface and begin kneading dough. After kneading, roll out dough until 1/4 inch thick.
  • Use holiday cookie cutters to make fun festive shapes for your cookies! Place cookies about 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets or silicone baking mats.
  • Bake 25 minutes and let cool for several minutes.
  • Serve them to your pup!

If you make these cookies, we'd love to see how they turned out! Tag @PetParadiseResort in your posts.
